Nairobi Itinerary: Must-See Attractions & Experiences

Nairobi is a traveler’s paradise, offering a perfect blend of adventure, wildlife, and vibrant culture. When planning this trip, I had a list of must-see experiences, including a safari game drive, a visit to the Giraffe Center, and the Elephant Sanctuary. I wanted this journey to be nothing short of unforgettable, and Nairobi delivered in every way.

Day 1: Relaxation & City Vibes

  • Morning: Spa Treatment at Fairmont The Norfolk-I kicked off my trip with a luxurious spa treatment at Fairmont The Norfolk, a historic hotel known for its colonial charm and world-class service. This was the perfect way to unwind after a long flight and prepare for the adventures ahead.

  • Afternoon: Private City Tour by Car- With Nairobi’s dynamic energy, a guided city tour was the best way to take in the sights without the stress of navigating on my own. From the bustling streets of downtown to iconic landmarks like Uhuru Park and Parliament Buildings, the tour provided a great introduction to the city’s culture and history.

  • Evening: Dinner at 45 Degrees & Nightlife at Pitcher and Butch- For dinner, I indulged in an incredible meal at 45 Degrees, a top-rated restaurant known for its modern cuisine and elegant ambiance. The menu featured a mix of local and international flavors, making it the perfect spot for a memorable first-night dinner.

  • To end the night, I headed to Pitcher and Butch, a lively nightlife spot where locals and travelers come together to dance, enjoy live music, and experience Nairobi’s vibrant nightlife scene.

Day 2: Safari Adventure & Cultural Exploration

  • Morning & Afternoon: Safari Game Drive at Nairobi National Park -One of the most surreal experiences of my trip was the game drive at Nairobi National Park, a unique wildlife reserve located just outside the city. Seeing lions, giraffes, zebras, and rhinos roaming freely with the Nairobi skyline in the background was breathtaking.

  • Giraffe Center & Elephant Sanctuary- Next, I visited the Giraffe Center, where I got to feed the endangered Rothschild giraffes up close—an unforgettable experience! Afterward, I headed to the David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary, where rescued baby elephants are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild. Watching them play and interact with their caretakers was truly heartwarming.

  • Visit to Kobe Beads Factory- In the afternoon, I explored the Kobe Beads Factory, where local women create beautiful, handcrafted beads using traditional techniques. Learning about the craftsmanship and the impact of this social enterprise made the visit even more special. Plus, I couldn’t resist picking up some stunning beaded jewelry as souvenirs.

  • Evening: Seafood Dinner at Mawimbi- After a long day of adventure, I treated myself to a spectacular seafood dinner at Mawimbi Seafood. The lobster was hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and the restaurant’s elegant atmosphere made it the perfect place to unwind.

Day 3: Shopping & Culinary Delights

  • Morning: Shopping at Maasai Market- No trip to Nairobi is complete without visiting the Maasai Market, a bustling open-air market where you can find handmade crafts, traditional Maasai jewelry, paintings, and textiles. It was the perfect place to pick up unique souvenirs while supporting local artisans.

  • Afternoon: Lunch at Mawimbi Seafood (Again!)- I couldn’t resist going back to Mawimbi Seafood for lunch—and I’m so glad I did! The daytime menu was just as exquisite as the dinner options, featuring fresh seafood dishes that were beautifully prepared and full of flavor.

Final Thoughts: From wildlife encounters and cultural experiences to incredible food and nightlife, Nairobi exceeded all my expectations. Whether you're an adventure seeker, foodie, or cultural explorer, this city offers something for everyone.
